Dearest Orly! You've done it again. Moved my heart with your words. It seems to happen every time I stop here. Intentions and goals. I've never quite understood why I brace so when someone starts things this way. Whether it be at the start of a lesson. At year's end. A group gathering. A challenge. Intentions as a word feels gentler than goal. Goal feels like a hard stop. But both stymie my natural flow. I want to get lost in my own world. My own imagination tends to be richer than the edges that bind us to what is reality, and I use reality; my noticing, my sense of things, and often being the 'bird' much like Charles Schulz's cartoon bird Woodstock that flies upside down backward. But that is okay since I tend to get where I need to be and land there just fine on my own. I'd rather be lost alone and given the time to wander, whether I am haggard and tired or content and 'holy' awed by my surroundings. I know I use the word slow a lot when I share publicly, but slow is the only way anything else makes sense. If a flower can take weeks to grow and emerge into its beauty, why as humans do we feel every second has to be full of something, some form of stimulus? I want whatever crosses my path to have arrived to me organically and honestly, born of nothing but happenstance, in my mind and soul, and I cannot do that if I have to precede it with an 'intention' or a 'goal' no matter the setting. I just want to hop on passing clouds or play tag with shadows, climb trees and build blanket forts, and whatever happens after that is a gift, one that I gave to myself.
Here is to our shared love of slowness, what a beautiful word. The need to fill every second is just appalling to me. A complete turn off and away from life and all its gifts. Love your words, endlessly.
I agree. Setting an intention is so constricting. I always operate on a moment-by-moment kind of freedom and a what-if, or what am I feeling now. Let the spirit flow.
How many times have I read your words and find they resonate so deeply in my being… How often do I search the universe for exactly what I need for myself— and find the message here? I am sure we were twins in another life. I see you, I hear you and I feel you. 👩🏻🤝👩🏼👩🏻🤝👩🏼💯🥰
Girl, yes. Me too. I totally know what you’re saying. Don’t even get me started. I hate this junky junk, kumbaya, pass-the-joint, “We’re all one” kinda crap. Spare me the manifestations and healing shit. Tell a child in Gaza to set his intentions for the day. Let’s all go live in a happy future that won’t be realized so we can then feel miserable for being a failure. Right now, “in this present moment,” is bad enough. Why would I dream of tomorrow?😂Pardon me while I gag myself with a spoon. Books are written on this shit. People make a living off the intentions industry. I say, just face the ordinary chores and suffering of the day and get on with it. Read some Marcus Aurelius.
You are so brave and inspiring, Orly and Cindy. Someone says set an intention…. I say - okey dokey. Even when questioning whatever the “it” is, I will question myself even deeper. Where and when did you learn to trust your gut? I guess I am still challenged to give myself the respect I deserve.
Oh Beautiful, for me it was when I stopped trusting anyone else’s guts. When there was no one else left to trust but myself. You are on your way there Chica. Ily!!
Orly!

I hope our bird selves meet somewhere in the deep trees, with no intentions, just the joy felt of being near another birds soul.
Thank you for writing and sharing, I feel less alone. ❤️
Sweetest invitation I’d say a thousand times yes to dear Misty. How magnificent that would be. 🤍🙏🏻🤍

And I love that about you dear Lesley. 🤎🤍🤎

Oh Val, that pleases me so much. My love to you. I appreciate your unwavering support and your warm heart, always.
Love your response. Attended this event and while I loved my workshop, I eyed yours with longing daily.
Awww Flo, that’s so sweet for you to note and share with me. Thank you so much. 🤎🤍🤎
